Continuing the Conversation from the 2026 Louisiana Library Association (LLA) Conference
Thank you for attending:

“Breaking Down Silos: Leading with Collaboration”.

Leadership development for public-serving professionals who are expected to lead people, manage complexity, and sustain integrity — often without adequate preparation or support.

Welcome, Conference Attendees

If you’re here, you likely resonated with something shared during the session — not because it was new, but because it named what many leaders experience quietly.

The Authentic Leadership Academy exists to support leaders who are navigating real systems, real constraints, and real people, while still trying to lead ethically and sustainably.

This page is an invitation to continue the work beyond the conference space.

Why This Conversation Matters

During the 2026 LLA Conference, many leaders acknowledged a shared reality:

Leaders are often promoted for competence and dedication — not for their preparation to manage people, power dynamics, emotional labor, or ethical tension.

As a result, leaders frequently experience:

  • Burnout from constant emotional labor
  • Isolation at the top or in the middle
  • Silos and communication breakdowns
  • Pressure to “be resilient” without meaningful support
  • Conflict between personal values and institutional constraints

These challenges are not personal failures — they are leadership realities that require a different kind of preparation.

The Authentic Leadership Academy

Authentic Leadership Academy (or AuthLead) is a leadership development experience designed specifically for leaders working inside complex, imperfect systems such as libraries, consortia, nonprofits, education, and public service.

AuthLead focuses on helping leaders:

  • Lead themselves before leading others
  • Regulate emotions and remain grounded under pressure
  • Navigate power dynamics without losing integrity
  • Communicate clearly and establish healthy boundaries
  • Influence culture even without positional authority
  • Lead sustainably rather than at personal cost

This is not motivational content or surface-level leadership training.
It is reflective, practical, and immediately applicable.

The Framework Introduced in the Session

As shared during “Breaking Down Silos: Leading with Collaboration”, ALA is grounded in five core pillars:

  • Self-Leadership & Emotional Regulation
  • Power, Authority & Ethical Boundaries
  • Conscious Decision-Making in Complex Systems
  • Culture, Communication & Accountability
  • Legacy-Centered Leadership

The conference session introduced this framework.
The Academy supports leaders in applying it over time.

Authentic Leadership Academy is designed for:

  • Library directors, assistant directors, and supervisors
