With more than 28 years of experience in public libraries and technology leadership, Jaketha Farmer brings a multidisciplinary perspective to organizational challenges in public service environments. Her professional background spans information technology, operations, and leadership development, with a consistent focus on how systems, culture, and people intersect.
Jaketha’s career began in information technology, where she led infrastructure initiatives, managed vendor partnerships, and supported digital services in public library systems. Over time, her work expanded beyond technology as colleagues increasingly sought her guidance on leadership development, workplace stress, and navigating organizational change. These experiences, combined with her academic background in training and development, engineering technology, and business administration, shaped her approach to leadership as a people-centered practice.
Throughout her career, Jaketha has designed and facilitated learning experiences that support professional growth, resilience, and organizational capacity. Her work has included mentorship initiatives, leadership development efforts, and well-being–focused learning sessions grounded in real workplace contexts. These experiences reinforced a core belief that effective leadership in libraries and public service organizations requires attention not only to systems and strategy, but also to the human dynamics that sustain them.
Today, Jaketha serves as an Assistant Library Director and works with organizations through consulting, conference speaking, and facilitated discussions focused on organizational culture, collaboration, and leadership capacity. Her work draws on applied experience, research-informed perspectives, and practical insight developed across diverse public service settings.
In addition to her professional experience, Jaketha holds advanced training and certifications in executive-level information technology leadership and organizational development, as well as credentials in holistic wellness practices. This combination allows her to approach leadership and organizational challenges with a balanced perspective that values both operational effectiveness and well-being.
Across her work, Jaketha’s focus remains consistent: supporting leaders and organizations as they navigate complexity, strengthen collaboration, and build sustainable practices that serve both people and communities.
